ああ、やっとわかった。ってことで書いておこう。

Tumblrにグループ？

A Group is a tumblelog with the special ability to invite others to post. Groups can be public or private.

Private groups are the perfect way to share things with a group of people. Just name your group, and invite friends, family, or colleagues to join. Once they join, they can invite people too.

Public groups are full-featured tumblelogs with the ability to invite others to post. Once invited, members share full control.

ヘルプだけじゃ分かりにくいので、もうちょっと書きましょうか。

プライベートとパブリックの違い

いずれの場合も、メールアドレスを使って招待しなければなりませんよ。

プライベート

Groups > Create a groupに書かれているのですが、

プライベートはDashboard上のみの共有みたいです。各個人がグループでreblogしたものをDashboard上で共有するっていうのが、それみたいです。

パブリック

パブリックのすごいところは、サブドメインを別個に作ることができて、グループのメンバーがそれぞれでreblogできるっていうところですね。
趣向の似通った人でグループを作れば、それはそれは素晴らしい収集ページになるんじゃあないんでしょうか。
ちなみに、パブリックはTumblrの機能をフルに使えるので、普通のTumblrとしても使うことができます。ただし、招待した人全員が操作できるみたいですけどもね。
